AI Credits Are the New Cell Phone Minutes — And They Need to Go

AI platforms are repeating the same mistake cell phone carriers made years ago with minutes. You pay for a plan, burn through your “credits” halfway into the month, and then get nudged to upgrade to the next tier. Frustrating. Inefficient. And it won’t scale. Just like we ditched rollover minutes for unlimited talk, AI companies need to ditch credit-based models. Teams shouldn’t have to ask, “Who used up our AI credits this month?” If your platform can’t figure out how to make usage seamless and sustainable, you’re creating friction instead of adoption. It’s simple: eliminate credits. Offer real, unlimited access. The companies that do will win.
