The fastest way to cut through conflict is to put the worst-case scenario on the table first. Whether it's an employee issue, a stalling vendor, or a negotiation that keeps looping, naming the possible end state removes the emotional charge. Instead of avoiding the conversation and wasting time, ask: “Should we just part ways?” If they want to continue, they re-engage. If not, you get clarity instead of weeks of guesswork.
