I always find it strange when people say, “𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿.”
I get it. We all go through hard years—loss, stress, missed goals, unexpected turns.
But stop for a moment and think about it.
When was the last time you were genuinely 𝚜̲𝚊̲𝚍̲ ̲𝚝̲𝚘̲ ̲𝚜̲𝚎̲𝚎̲ ̲𝚊̲ ̲𝚢̲𝚎̲𝚊̲𝚛̲ ̲𝚐̲𝚘̲?
A year isn’t just a number on a calendar.
It’s lived experience. Wins. Failures. Relationships. Lessons you don’t get twice.
Over time, I’ve started looking at years differently. In my own life, I’ve noticed a pattern:
• odd years are where I put in the work, and
• even years are where I tend to see the results.
The effort, uncertainty, and grind don’t always pay off immediately. Sometimes they show up later—as clarity, momentum, or opportunity you couldn’t have predicted at the time.
That perspective helps me appreciate even the tough years. They aren’t wasted. They’re foundational.
So instead of wishing a year away, I try to ask a better question:
What was this year preparing me for ⁉️
Because if nothing changes in how we think, act, or prioritize, then January is just another month.
